About Us

History

Padraig is a young man who lives in the Twin Cities, his family knew early on that he was a Special Kid. Padraig was first diagnosed with Developmental Delay and later as having Cognitive Delay and Autism.

Any parent who receives such news knows it is devastating and you feel at a loss for where to go. Padraig's family realized early on that in order to make an enriching life for Padraig it would be a journey that required strength, support and guidance. His family would need to remain mentally and emotionally strong so they could provide Padraig with an environment full of opportunity.

Many times along the journey, Padraig's family wished it wasn't so hard to find all the resources that they needed. This wish is being fulfilled through the development of SpecialKidCare.org – A one-stop for families to find the information, support and resources available to you and your Special Kid!

Padraig's Place is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2008. It is powering the development of SpecialKidCare.org; a place where families will be able to easily find and navigate the possibilities for support, guidance and access to resources that are available to families with children with autism and other special needs.

Eileen Foley -- Padraig's Place President & Founder

Eileen founded Padraig's Place in 2008 after finding the search for support and resources to be extremely challenging for her son Padraig who was diagnosed with developmental problems at 13 months and Autism and Cognitive Delay at age 4.  An avid researcher with a background in Microbiology and Genetic Engineering, Eileen believed that if she was having difficulities establishing connections to proper care options for Padraig, financial support, respite and emotional support that she must not be alone.  It has become her life passion to support and enrich the lives of other families who are challenged with disabilities through the development of this organization and website, SpecialKidCare.org
