Waiver Programs and Medical Assistance

Waiver based programs "Waive" a families income requirements in order to receive Medical Assistance (MA).  These programs were established to help serve individuals with specials needs in the community who might otherwise require care at a nursing home or other health care facility.  There are requirements that must be satisfied to qualify for the waivers and you need to coordinate with your respective counties to identify what these criteria are. 
There are four waiver programs that will apply to our special kids.(See below for more info on each)
1. Community Alternative Care Programs (CAC)
2. Community Alternative for Disabled Individuals (CADI)
3. Developmental Disabilities (DD)
4. Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
Waivers allow for coverage  that Medical Assistance offers as well as home health care, therapies, equipment, supportive employment, foster care, homemaking, home/verhicle modifications, respite, counseling and other things.

Medical Assistance (MA, Medicare) may help you with medical care; this program is income dependent. 
Click on TEFRA if you think or know your income is too high to qualify for medical assistance.
Medical Assistance may help pay for the cost of a doctor, clinic, hospital and other medical expenses that are related to caring for a child with special needs.
