When Padraig was nearing the end of his Kindergarten year of school, I began to
search for child care for Padraig over the summer. First on my priority list was to simply find somewhere that would
accept Padraig into their program. How I would pay for it was an entirely different issue. I knew that there were
resources available for his care but felt the process was more than I could handle at the time.
I began making calls to daycare
centers who directed me to the county and state for guidance. I was further directed to advocacy groups in the area
and at the end of hours of phone calls I found there was no central point to direct me to the available options. We
were fortunate to find an amazing team in our county to assist us in finding resources to help us with the care but still
no where to go to find our provider.
The idea of Padraig's Place originally began when I asked the questions...."Where do I find a care provider?"
Padraig's Place will make it possible for no one else to have to ask that question.

Padraig's Place will offer a forum for families to meet
qualified care providers for their special kid. It will enable family and care provider to interact in a secure environment
to ensure that they are a good fit for each other before ever having to exchange personal information such as names, addresses
or telephone numbers. Padraig's Place will also offer providers the ability to share personal references
and learning opportunities so that they can become more diversified in their skills.
We were so fortunate to find an amazing PCA to work with
us, we want to make it a reality for everyone to have the same success that we did.
