A Place to Have Fun At Buck Hill we are focused on having fun and we believe all guests are entitled to enjoy winter recreation. Padraig’s Place, a local non-profit organization, and Buck Hill Ski and Snowboard School have come together to provide a fun experience for skiers and snowboarders with both physical and cognitive disabilities. We provide an opportunity to experience winter fun in a safe, family friendly atmosphere. We tailor our lessons to suit your individual needs, creating the best memories, again and again.
Padraig's Place has adaptive equipment that can assist stand-up and sit downs skiers as well as balance equipment for snowboarders. We also offer instructors that have trained with the latest equipment and current techniques to make the experience memorable and safe. Many of the Instructors are PSIA certified, trained through the National Sports Center for the Disabled and active in the special needs community outside of the ski area.

Volunteering for Padraig's Place was a no brainer for me. It was a combination of contributing, skiing, and using my background as a special education teacher to impact the lives of someone else that cemented my decision to sign up. Last winter's experience, my first, working with the program was more than I hoped for. Passing on feelings of my early experiences and love of skiing to kids has been so rewarding. The impact on me of seeing the smiles on the kids' faces and hearing the laughs and giggles as we navigated the hills together was priceless. I loved getting to know each child I worked with, helping them overcome challenges and accomplish goals all the while learning new skills and having the time of their lives. Working with the adaptive program has given me the opportunity to meet and work with the most amazing and dedicated people. I loved the comradery, support and atmosphere that was part of my experience. Being a Padraig's Place volunteer has been a unique experience that I wouldn't give up for the world. I am definitely signing up for the 2013 season.
